Social issues, street photography

I am living in London for more than a year. I love it.

London is considered as the most multicultural city in the world. It’s truth that you can encounter people from all over the world, as a ‘tremendous human hill‘ (Henry James 1893). I wanted to depict this diversity within one image and I wander where I can find this ethnical and cultural melting. I explored different markets throughout London (New Covent Garden Market, Brick Lane, Broadway Market, Borough Market, Portobello Market, Covent Garden, Borough Market…) and I was quite surprised to realize that even a ‘popular’ place is not so diverse. Indeed, we can draw a kind of typology of London markets, each has particular characteristics (through people who come, products sold) and stick to the social image of its area. How document the movement of the city, its seeming diversity and its incoherent social contrasts? All that within one photograph?
